                                           Chapter 1

                                         Woodbrooks

“ Almost there, ” Emma called from the drivers seat. Mitchel sat up, and we both looked upon what was about to be our new home. The trees were bright shades of green, with darker ones mixed in here and there. The sky was grayer here than anywhere we’d ever been. As if it was about to pour down with rain at any minute. Then the sun would break through the clouds eliminating the look of precipitation. The forest began growing thicker, until we were surrounded on both sides.

After about an hour we began to see the town. It was small, but it would be exactly what we needed. As we approached the town we passed the sign welcoming us to our new home, Woodbrooks.

I stuck the key in the lock, and turned it until it unlocked. I twisted the door knob, and opened the front door of the old house. We stepped inside to find it completely empty as the landlord had said it would be. Directly to the left was the kitchen, and to our right looked to be the living room. There were two separate doorways, leading to the hallway. I left the others and ventured into the rest of the house. To the right was a stair case. I walked up the creaking stairs and there I discovered three bedrooms. One for each of us. On the left side there was one of the bedrooms, and a bathroom at the very end of the hallway. The right side had its own bathroom, we would let Emma have that one. I walked back downstairs to find them outside bringing in our things. Emma was going to have fun redecorating this place. I walked outside and helped Mitchel and Emma with everything else.

When the house was fully put together, and somewhat organized we went to check out the town.

It was small, and the biggest store was a Brookshires and then various dollar stores. There was also just about a church on every corner. The houses were different, people seemed to care less about the way their front yards looked, compared to the bigger cities we’ve been in. There were also feed stores for live stock. It was definitely going to get some used to. We stopped by the high school ,and went ahead, and enrolled. We would start tomorrow. Some  students passing by, looked at us as if we were unwanted. Others just passed by staring without a word. Then there were some who didn't dare cross our path.
